GAZA, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Israeli forces shot and wounded a Palestinian near the security fence separating Israel and northern Gaza Strip, a hospital spokesperson said Sunday.
The Palestinian, in his 20s, was moderately injured, the spokesperson told Xinhua.
Meanwhile, an Israel army spokesperson said his forces fired at a Palestinian who was with a group trying to cause damage to the fence.
In November 2012, an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire ended eight days of Israeli military offensive against Gaza. Under the deal, Israel also canceled the 300-meter-wide buffer zone along its borders with Gaza.
According to Palestinian statistics, four Palestinians were killed and 60 others injured by Israeli fire in the former restricted-access border areas since the ceasefire took effect.
